The Viking (460K) Hydraulic Workover Rig is an efficient workover rig that allows all drilling and workover operations to be conducted with a small footprint. With its reduced size, weight and packaging capability, these features can bring down the costs of transportation, as well as maintenance, and make it ideal for equipment areas with spacing limitations. The rig is an electric powered hydraulic unit capable of creating 460,000 lbs of lift force. The rig, while having powerful lifting capabilities, is also a hydraulic snubbing rig operating with an 11" 5,000 psi, 6 station BOP system. The rig can function very efficiently on both conventional well operations, as well as on all underbalanced situations. Its efficiency contributes to the success of the entire operation. The HWR was also developed to handle sidetrack drilling, milling and conventional drilling applications. Using "The Viking" in a snubbing operation eliminates the costs of kill fluid. All Systems are PLC controlled (electronic over hydraulic) and computer sequenced. These systems give up to the minute reports of all pertinent well and unit information including: well pressure, tubing depth, weight, tong torque etc. The Automated Pipe Handling System allows the crew to have very little direct contact with moving parts creating a safe environment for personnel. A four man crew is used to perform all operations with a Rig Manager to ensure service quality and safety standards are maintained. This HWR can mill or drill while snubbing or in the pipe heavy position. This rotary function is possible throughout the length of the 12' stroke. The rotary system can generate 12,000 ft/lbs torque and up to 70 RPM when required. Specially designed HAES Slips have the advantage of maintaining a full 11" bore without removing slip carriers, greatly speeding up the handling of large diameter tools and reducing accidents. The Spherical BOP is built into the structure of the Snubbing Unit, eliminating the need for a stripping element. The Spherical BOP is fully accessible, allowing the element to be changed quickly and efficiently. Safety was, and is, the first priority in design and operation. The Viking Technical Data:
