Ross Whelan - HSE Manager
Mr. Whelan has been the HSE Manager of High Arctic Energy Services L.P. since joining the organization in December 2005. His primary responsibilities are overseeing the development, implementation and management of health, safety and environment programs and operations for the organization. Mr. Whelan has worked in the oil and gas industry for 16 years. Prior to joining High Arctic, Mr. Whelan served as HSE Manager for Brazeau Well Services (2004 to mid-2005) and when they were acquired by BuilderÕs Energy Services in mid-2005 he was promoted to HSE Manager to their 5 northern-based companies. Mr. Whelan was Safety Superintendent for Drive Well Servicing for 1 year before Precision Drilling acquired Cenalta Well Servicing. At that time he became the HSE Advisor for 39 northern-based rigs and spent four years in that position. In addition to his HSE experience, Mr. Whelan has held the positions of floorhand, derrickman and/or driller with Mountain Well Servicing, Grizzly Well Servicing, Concord Well Servicing, Crown Well Servicing, Tazmanian Well Servicing, Bonus Well Servicing, Drive Well Servicing, Beta Well Servicing, Brazeau Well Servicing, Lanco Well Servicing and M&D Well Servicing. Mr. Whelan has developed and instructed worker observation programs, driver training programs, JSA programs, loss control and risk assessment programs and equipment inspection programs for several companies. In his career, Mr. Whelan has achieved several successes, including achieving a safety record of zero lost time incidents while managing safety for 39 northern-based service rigs over 4 years, which contributed to the CAODC Class A award for Precision Well Servicing in 2003.
